Prague, the beautiful capital of the Czech Republic, is known for its rich history, stunning architecture, and efficient public transportation system. Below you’ll find essential transportation information to help you navigate the city during your visit.  

Václav Havel Airport Prague (PRG)

Prague is served by Václav Havel Airport Prague (PRG), located approximately 17 km (10.5 miles) northwest of the city center. The airport offers numerous international and domestic flights daily.


Traveling from Václav Havel Airport Prague to the Prague Congress Centre (PCC):

  • Airport Express Bus: Take the Airport Express to the main train station (Praha hlavní nádraží) and transfer to the metro line C (red line) toward Vyšehrad station, located next to the PCC.
  • Public Bus Lines:  Routes 119 and 100 connect the airport to the metro system. From the metro, use line C to reach Vyšehrad. 
  • Taxi and Ride-Sharing Services: Available at designated taxi stands or through apps like Bolt and Uber. The ride takes approximately 30 minutes, depending on traffic. 
  • Private Transfers: Pre-booked services for a hassle-free ride to your destination.

By Train
The Prague Main Railway Station (Praha hlavní nádraží) connects Prague to major European cities. From the station, take the metro line C (red line) toward Vyšehrad station. The Prague Congress Centre is just a 2-minute walk from the station. 

By Car
The Prague Congress Centre is accessible via major highways, including the D1 motorway. The venue offers on-site parking facilities for visitors. Driving through Prague’s city center can be challenging due to narrow streets and traffic, so plan your route carefully.

From the North - HIGHWAY E55

While on the North-South E55, motorway from Dresden, follow the signs to the city centre. After crossing the Vltava River drive through the city centre and onwards over the Nuselsky bridge. At the end of the bridge turn right following the signs towards Kongresove centrum Praha. Once driving through the roundabout in front of the venue, turn right towards the OMV petrol station to enter the parking lot.

From the South - HIGHWAY E50

If driving from North-South E50 motorway from Brno / Bratislava / Vienna, follow the signs to the city centre. While driving through the 5.kvetna street take the turn with signs directing towards Corinthia Towers Hotel and Kongresove centrum Praha. Once driving through the roundabout in front of the venue, turn right towards the OMV petrol station to enter the parking lot.

From the West - HIGHWAY E50

Follow the E50 and join the outer ring road Prazsky okruh towards the city centre. After crossing the river and joining the Jizni spojka, follow the signs towards the city centre. After driving through 5.kvetna street, take the turn with signs directing toward Corinthia Towers Hotel and Kongresove centrum Praha. Once driving through the roundabout, turn right towards the OMV petrol station to enter the parking lot.

From the East - HIGHWAY E67

Approaching from highway E67 from Hradec Kralove or from Mlada Boleslav, follow the sign Cerny Most quarter and continue towards the city centre/Karlin. Drive through the short Tesnovsky tunnel and turn left immediately towards the centre to join the City expressway. Drive through the City centre and onwards over the Nuselsky bridge. At the end of the bridge turn right following the signs towards Kongresove centrum Praha. Once driving through the roundabout in front of the venue, turn right towards the OMV petrol station to enter the parking lot.

Getting Around Prague
Prague boasts a comprehensive and efficient public transportation system, including metro, trams, and buses. Tickets are valid across all modes of transport and can be purchased at ticket machines, newsstands, or through the PID Lítačka app.

MetroPrague’s metro system has three lines (A, B, and C) covering the majority of the city. Trains run every few minutes, making it a fast and convenient option.

Trams: Trams are an excellent way to explore Prague, offering scenic routes through the city. Lines 22 and 23 are especially popular with tourists for their stops near major landmarks.

Buses: Buses primarily serve the outskirts of Prague and areas not covered by the metro or tram systems.

Walking:The city center is compact and pedestrian-friendly, making walking a delightful way to experience Prague’s historic streets and attractions.

Transportation Tips

Tickets and Fares: Single-ride tickets are valid for 30 or 90 minutes. Day passes and longer-term passes are also available.

• Validation: Be sure to validate your ticket when entering the metro or boarding a tram or bus.

• Ride-Sharing: Bolt and Uber operate in Prague and can be used for convenient, app-based rides.

• Cycling: Bike rentals and shared bikes are available for those looking to explore on two wheels. Note that some areas have cobblestone streets, which can be challenging for cyclists.
